Is a Sea Lion Serial Killer on the Loose?

1 Mins read

Decapitated bodies of sea lions are washing ashore on Canada’s Vancouver Island.

It’s unclear if the sea lions have been killed by the beheading … or if their dead bodies were tampered with.

Either way, experts believe that humans are likely to be involved.

So far, five headless bodies have been found and there are hints of a sea lion serial killer.

Images indicate that the animals being killed are Stellar sea lions, which can reach lengths of up to 10.8 feet and weigh an average of 2,200 pounds.

Several First Nations groups have been proposing a culling of sea lions because as the sea lion population has grown, the numbers of salmon and other protected fish have plunged.

In Canada, sea lions are protected by the Fisheries Act and the Species at Risk Act — and at Karmagawa, we’re asking you to join us in demanding that an investigation be done by Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

The thought of these beautiful animals being murdered in a brutal way is horrific, and a necropsy should be done to learn about how these animals actually died. Any responsible parties must be caught and punished to the fullest extent of the law!

Innocent sea lions don’t deserve to die from cruel practices and we must speak up for them and demand justice.
