Will The Pandemic Teach People How to Better Treat the Environment?

1 Mins read

This is intense, but please take three minutes and watch this eye-opening video about choices we have regarding the environment after this pandemic lockdown…

The coronavirus was able to shut down the whole planet. It didn’t discriminate against skin color, financial status, or social class — if you live on this big, beautiful planet, your life was somehow affected.

But have we learned our lesson?

According to this video, most viruses are kept in check by healthy environments filled with diverse and abundant wildlife.

But when those environments get disrupted because of our insatiable appetites to consume their resources, where do those viruses have to go?  Does the imbalance in nature make humans a target?

When will the destruction of our clean air and water be enough?

Are apocalyptic fires enough?

Are vanishing glaciers enough?

Are super hurricanes enough?

Are human deaths enough?

We have some time in this lockdown to think about these things. We can find new ways to be kind to animals and respect their lives. We can be more responsible with the environment around us by managing how we consume its resources. We can find a better way to live.

At Karmagawa, we’re thinking of these things — and encourage you to do so, as well.  After all, we’re all in this together.
