Video captured the moment a bride's wedding photoshoot was interrupted by the massive explosion in #Beirut that killed at least 135 people, wounded at least 5,000 and left up to 300,000 people homeless. Imagine this was your wedding day and in the middle of it a tragedy like this happened, changing the lives of millions of people and the city where you live forever. Please click the link in our bio to join in the relief effort here because while the @karmagawa and @savethereef communities have now raised $240,000+ for the victims of this catastrophe in just the past 24 hours, our new goal is to raise $350,000 because this city needs as much help as it can get right now; the hospitals in Beirut are overwhelmed with casualties and four of its hospitals are out of service due to damage by the explosion so it’s up to the international community to step in and help with more doctors, temporary shelters, ambulances and more rescue workers too! Please click the link in our bio and donate whatever you can, ALL donations great and small are most appreciated and/or share our posts about this explosion with your followers as spreading awareness helps too. We’ll be donating 100% of funds raised in the next 24 hours to our local charity partners already on the ground in Beirut @doctorswithoutborders @unicef @savethechildren and @partnersrelief but tag anyone who needs to see this and we’ll chat with them too as we want to help as many victims, and their families, as possible! #beirut #prayforlebanon #beirutblast #teamwork #karmagawa

What makes this video so frightening is that it isn’t a movie. It’s real life …

It’s difficult for a lot of us to imagine our lives being impacted by this magnitude of destruction.

Unfortunately for the people in Beirut, it IS real life …

Many of them are confused and terrified as they frantically search for family members, survivors …  and answers.

The popular waterfront neighborhood near the explosion site — which was normally full of restaurants, nightclubs, and people — was basically flattened.

The death toll continues to rise … with at least 135 confirmed dead.

Rescue workers struggle as they attempt to treat thousands of injured people … and electricity is out in most of the city, limiting what can be done at night.

Anger is rising among the people who are demanding answers for why this catastrophe — which has changed or ended many lives — was allowed to happen.

Lebanese officials are blaming the explosion on thousands of tons of ammonium nitrate that arrived on a Russian-owned cargo ship more than six years ago.

The country has entered a state of emergency which gives security forces authority to impose house arrest on anyone involved with the storage of ammonium nitrate at the port as investigations continue.

It will probably take some time to get real answers but we as a community want to do what we can to help alleviate as much of the suffering as we can.

Karmagawa is looking to raise $350,000 to help the survivors and families that are affected by this explosion … and you can join us by donating at this link.

No donation is too small. Please give what little you can … and we’ll give a BIG donation together.

Again, the donation link is here.

Follow us on Twitter and Instagram for more updates … and make sure to share the information with your family and loved ones so that others can get involved.
