Dangerous Single-Use Plastics Are Being Used Needlessly To Wrap Coconuts

1 Mins read

The damage that plastics have on the environment and on living things is well known.

So, why do we continue to needlessly use single-use plastics on fruits and vegetables that already have an all-natural protective cover that is biodegradable and 100% plastic-free?

Take a look at these pictures …

Plastic pollution has affected almost every environment on the planet, with terrible effects on our oceans and to marine life.

Animals end up getting killed while moving around their natural environment after getting entangled by non-biodegradable plastic products. They’ve also been known to die from eating plastics.

About 11 million tons of plastic enter the ocean each year … and the mass of plastic pollution in the ocean may exceed the mass of fish by 2050!

The fight to end single-use plastic is a huge battle but we need to start somewhere.

We can start with something simple like coconuts. Our friend Kelly Slater commented on one of our posts that it’s truly baffling why anyone would feel the need to wrap coconuts in plastic when it already has a protective shell!

Here are more pictures …

Whole Foods was forced to stop selling plastic-wrapped mandarin oranges when pictures of them went viral and caused public outrage.

Together, we can help that happen for coconuts, too!

When you see your local grocery store using plastic needlessly, don’t be afraid to let someone in charge know about it.

Spread the word on social media. When you speak up, you’re speaking for all the voiceless animals that are in danger from future plastic pollution.

Follow us on Twitter and Instagram and share the information with your family and loved ones so that they can spread the word.

Have them watch this powerful video …

The director of this video, Amir Zakeri, created a masterclass for anyone in the Karmagawa and SaveTheReef community who would like to create documentaries that help the environment. If you’re interested, here’s a discount to get 50% off the regular price.
