A powerful 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the Aegean Sea on Friday, killing over 80 people in Turkey and Greece.

The quake caused a “mini tsunami” which flooded streets, causing even further disaster.

Watch these horrifying videos of the damage …

People ran through the streets crying out for their family and loved ones.

Izmir, Turkey’s third largest city, has seen the most damage. 962 people have been injured and 20 buildings have been seriously damaged. CARE is estimating that 100,000 people in the city have been affected.

Rescue efforts continue as teams look for survivors under destroyed buildings and other wreckage. Turkey’s Health Minister, Fahrettin Koca, says there is no way to determine the number of people trapped under the rubble. So far, rescue efforts in nine of the destroyed buildings have been completed and 103 people have been rescued through their efforts.

Multiple search and rescue personnel have been sent to the area, along with volunteers. More than 900 tents are being used as temporary shelters.

900 aftershocks have been registered since the original quake … and 42 of them have measured over 4.0.

At Karmagawa, we’re so sad that the people of Turkey and Greece are going through this. It has been such a hard year because of the pandemic already … and now they are experiencing this disaster. We pray that all survivors are rescued and get the help that they need.
